All over the country Green Party councillors are improving their local communities with new ideas and a fresh perspective. In places like Huddersfield, Oxford and Norwich action on climate change, public transport, safe streets and protection for our green spaces are being put top of the agenda. Thursday’s elections are the last chance to effect the make-up of Broxtowe council for the next four years. We are urging voters to put a Green voice on the council this May and bring new ideas to our local community.

I posted before but didn’t get through. Is there any information available about any of the candidates. One is standing in my Chilwell West consituency but I’ve had no leaflets and haven’t found any information about him online.
Am I supposed to vote for someone I’ve never seen or heard why he wants to me by councillor?

The Green Party is entirely funded by small donations from its volunteers and other supporters. Unlike the major parties we do not take donations from big business, bankers or unions. This frees us up to say what we think is right for the country rather than vested interests. However, the drawback is that we are sometimes short of funds. Unfortunately this does mean that in some wards we don’t have the resources to do a leaflet for the whole ward.

I wasn’t expecting leaflets (in fact the Lib Dems didn’t even manage to send me one either).
But at least a blog post from each candidate to say “Hello! I’m standing because…” and “I want to do…”
